Costa Rica and Ghana debut on the 50 Best Bars list
The 51-100 extended list for 2026 adds 13 new bars across 10 cities, giving San José and Accra their first-ever places ahead of October's main ceremony in Milan.
The 50 Best Bars extended list for 2026 has added Costa Rica and Ghana to the map, with Otro Bar in San José and two bars in Accra making their countries' first appearances in the ranking.
The 51-100 list, published on 23 September, names 13 new entries across 10 cities. Otro Bar lands at number 82, the first Costa Rican bar ever to feature. In Ghana, Front/Back takes number 80 and La Borracha number 87, giving Accra two debuts in the same list rather than a single toehold.
Elsewhere, MO Bar in Shenzhen enters at 60, the first bar from that city to be recognised, alongside Mius in Hong Kong at 81, Boilermaker in Goa at 57, G.O.D in Bangkok at 85, Offtrack in Singapore at 89, Form + Matter in Mexico City at 59, Three Horses in Melbourne at 84, Naked in Athens at 76, Bar Gabriel in Istanbul at 68 and Bar 1661 in Dublin at 98.
The 51-100 list has become a vital part of the 50 Best Bars programme, letting us recognise an even broader range of exceptional venues.
Europe still supplies the largest share of the 51-100 list with 18 bars, ahead of Asia's 16, and Hong Kong alone accounts for four of those Asian places. The single biggest mover is Boadas in Barcelona, which climbed 33 positions to number 52.
A second list with its own following
"The 51-100 list has become a vital part of the 50 Best Bars programme, allowing us to recognise an even broader range of exceptional venues," the organisation said of the extended ranking, which has grown from a footnote into a launch of its own since it began running separately from the main top 50.
That distinction matters for bars like Otro Bar and the two Accra venues: a first appearance anywhere on the list, even outside the top 50, is treated by the industry as a credential in its own right, on top of what a win like Hope & Sesame's in China means for a market's visibility.
Milan hosts the main reveal next
The top 50 itself, including whether Italy keeps the four bars flagged in last year's Milan ranking, will be announced on 7 October at the awards' 18th edition, also in Milan. Until then, the extended list is the only public marker of where this year's rankings are heading.
