La Dolce Vita Orient Express adds four routes for 2027
Wine in Bolgheri and Verona, truffles in Alba, plus Portofino and Venice: the Italian sleeper train's new programme starts at €3,060 a head, and most of the tastings are extras.

La Dolce Vita Orient Express, the Italian sleeper train that Arsenale runs under the Orient Express name, announced four itineraries for 2027 on 8 October: one built on wine, one on truffles and two on Portofino, Venice and Florence. All leave from Roma Ostiense, and fares on the operator's site start at €3,060 per passenger.
The announcement, as carried by the Italian trade title Travel Quotidiano, lists destinations and gives no dates, durations or prices. Those sit on the booking pages. The Italian Wine Route runs Rome, Bolgheri, Verona and back in three days and two nights, from €5,780 per passenger in a shared cabin. The Truffle Route, Rome to Alba and back over the same length, starts at €6,560. Fanpage, which published fares on 8 October, gives the same two figures.
Rome, Portofino, Venice and Tuscany, also two nights, calls at Santa Margherita Ligure, Venezia Santa Lucia and Florence and starts at €8,880. The one-way Rome to Venice, with a stop in Bolgheri, takes one night and is the €3,060 entry price. Ostiense station sits beside Testaccio, a district covered in our guide to what to eat in Rome.
A wine route where the winery visit is an extra is mostly a route.
What a La Dolce Vita Orient Express fare buys at the table
Menus in the restaurant car are by Heinz Beck, whom the operator presents as a three-Michelin-starred chef. On the two-night trips the fare covers dinner on both evenings and breakfast on both mornings, plus lunch on the first day on the wine and Portofino routes.
The wine and truffles of the route names are mostly sold separately. In Alba the optional outing is a truffle hunt with a hunter and a dog starting at the Ceretto estate, then lunch at Ristorante Le Brunate with Ceretto's Barolo. From Verona, a Valpolicella excursion goes to La Collina dei Ciliegi for lunch and Amarone. In Bolgheri, vintage cars drive the cypress road to a winery the page does not name. These outings are priced per person on top of the fare.
Two of the 2027 routes leave this year
"New for 2027" needs a footnote. The booking site shows the next Truffle Route departure in November 2026 and the next Wine Route and Rome to Venice departures in December 2026. Only the Portofino itinerary first appears in May 2027. Individual 2027 dates are not listed on the open pages.
La Dolce Vita Orient Express took its first passengers on 4 April 2025. Arsenale describes a project of six trains of 12 cars, each with 31 cabins, and a target of 60,000 passengers by 2027.
At €5,780 for two nights, the Wine Route costs €2,890 a night per passenger before a glass is poured at any estate. The La Dolce Vita Orient Express announcement names no winery and no guest chef.
