Yield Essex Road has opened as the natural wine group's third London site, bringing the Stoke Newington business to Angel, Islington.

The bar and shop opened on October 14, 2026, at 10a Essex Road, London N1 8LN, according to Hot Dinners. It is the third Yield site after the original on Stoke Newington's Church Street and a second branch on St Paul's Road, Highbury Corner.

Our newest site, Yield Essex Road has the same vibe as our St Paul's Road site.

The Essex Road site sells natural wine by the glass and bottle to drink in or take away, alongside cheese, charcuterie and a short list of nibbles, according to the same report. The food range is smaller and more tightly edited than at the Stoke Newington flagship, Yield said.

"Our newest site, Yield Essex Road has the same vibe as our St Paul's Road site," the Yield team said, describing a "smaller, more carefully selected range" of bottles and food.

A wine shop with a drink-in counter

Essex Road already carries one of Islington's busier food and drink strips, and the new Yield sits on the same stretch as the bakery-café Jolene, according to Hot Dinners. Customers can buy bottles to take home from the shop section or sit in for a glass with cheese and charcuterie.

Yield has offered free snacks and a cheese-and-charcuterie board as part of its opening week, the report said. The group's other two sites remain open as usual.

Why Islington keeps adding wine bars

The opening adds to a run of recent openings in the area; the all-day café Clementine, from pastry chef Anna Higham, began trading nearby in Islington earlier in October. Independent wine shops with a drink-in counter have become one of the more durable formats on London's high streets, combining retail margins with bar trade on the same floor space.

Yield has not said whether a fourth site is planned. For now, the group is focused on settling the Essex Road shop into its new neighbourhood alongside its two existing North London addresses.
