Colorado's Michelin Guide adds 3 Bib Gourmands statewide

The Colorado Bib Gourmand list grew by three restaurants this week, and Michelin handed out its first Sommelier Award for the region, filling out a 2026 selection that had so far been read through Milpero's single new star.

Annette in Aurora, Pig and Tiger in Denver and Rougarou in Denver all earned Bib Gourmand status, Michelin's mark for restaurants serving food it considers exceptional value. Their addition brings Colorado's statewide Bib Gourmand count to 13.

Annette is a scratch-to-table kitchen inside Aurora's Stanley Marketplace. Pig and Tiger serves Taiwanese food in Denver. Rougarou is a Denver soul-food restaurant. None had previously carried a Michelin distinction.

A first Sommelier Award for the region

John Germain, wine director at Reserve, won the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Southwest Sommelier Award, recognising his work building and explaining an 8,000-bottle list. Michelin cited his pairing choices and tableside teaching as much as the collection's size.

The wider Southwest selection, covering Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah alongside Colorado, was revealed for the first time on 26 August, with five starred restaurants across the four-state region. Colorado's own guide has now expanded beyond its original footprint of Denver, Boulder, Aspen, Snowmass Village, Vail and Beaver Creek to include Aurora, Avon, Breckenridge, Colorado Springs and Telluride, taking the state's total selection to 63 restaurants across 22 cuisines.

Recognition spreads beyond the tasting menu

Michelin's Colorado guide has grown quickly since its 2023 launch, adding The Wolf's Tailor's two stars in 2025 and Milpero's star this week. Bib Gourmands and a sommelier prize round out that growth with categories that reward value and service rather than tasting-menu theatre, extending the guide's reach into neighbourhood restaurants a typical diner might actually book on a Tuesday.

For a state guide still finding its shape, spreading recognition across Aurora strip malls and wine cellars alike is as telling as the star count: Michelin is betting Colorado's dining identity runs wider than its handful of destination tasting rooms.
