Le Monde Wine Garden opens at its Prata di Pordenone winery
The Maccan family has turned the outdoor space of its Friuli winery into a garden by architect Alessandro Isola. The launch skipped the practical details: hours, menu and prices.

The Le Monde Wine Garden opened on 20 October at the Maccan family’s winery in Prata di Pordenone, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It combines a garden, a lounge and a shop where visitors taste the wines of Le Monde and of La Ponca, the family’s second estate in the Collio hills.
The announcement, sent almost word for word to Italian and international trade media, promises “a garden to enjoy, a wine to share”. Stripped of that line, the project is a redesigned outdoor area: two overlapping rectangular reflecting pools at its centre, islands of ornamental grasses, a single long table that runs through the garden and turns into a walkway, and a covered lounge for aperitifs.
The architect is Alessandro Isola, who runs a multidisciplinary studio in London. He knows the estate: he designed Le Monde’s 183 m² tasting room, completed in 2014, according to ArchDaily. Here a metal mesh replaces a wall between the street and the garden, and the indoor sales and tasting room has suspended planting and a long wall of vertical bands meant to recall vine rows.
A garden built to pour two estates’ wines in one place, still waiting for its timetable.
What the Le Monde Wine Garden offers
Wines from both estates, served with what the company calls typical Friulian flavours, plus tastings and events about wine and the surrounding land. No menu, event calendar, opening hours or prices for the garden itself have been published. Alex Maccan and Marta Paladin Furlan describe it as “first and foremost a place where people can feel at home”.
What visitors can book today are the winery’s existing tastings, listed on its website at €21 for three wines and €26 for five, or €26 and €31 with local cheese and cured meats, in Italian or English and paid on arrival. The winery is open Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.00, and on Saturday mornings.
From a wine shop plan to a garden
The opening delivers a plan announced in June 2025, when Le Monde said it would open a new wine shop in 2026, buy nearby vineyards and expand Pinot Bianco, its flagship grape. The company says it farms 120 hectares between the Livenza and Meduna rivers, and its Pinot Bianco has won Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri, the award whose 2027 edition is being released region by region, as the Tre Bicchieri 2027 results for neighbouring Veneto showed.
La Ponca lies in Scriò, in Dolegna del Collio, at the other end of the region on the Slovenian border. A garden on the Pordenone plain gives the family one counter for both labels. Whether it draws visitors beyond the trade will depend on the details the launch left out: when it opens, and what a glass costs.
