Daniel Boulud reopens on the Upper West Side this week: Brasserie Boulud, a 10,000-square-foot flagship at 1900 Broadway, opens on 8 October after months of delay.

The French chef is consolidating three shuttered restaurants, Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud and Épicerie Boulud, into a single brasserie across from Lincoln Center. The move ends a yearlong gap in Boulud's Upper West Side presence, where he has operated since 2008.

Demand moved fast once reservations went live on Resy: tables are already booked well into October, according to Eater New York. The debut also coincides with the New York Film Festival, running at Lincoln Center through 12 October, handing Boulud a built-in crowd of pre- and post-theatre diners.

Three closed addresses become one brasserie, timed to the week the film festival crowd arrives.

What's on the Brasserie Boulud menu

The menu folds in the greatest hits of all three closed restaurants: seafood towers, French onion soup, steak frites, lobster soufflé and boudin blanc sit alongside the return of Boulud's cult DB Burger. Mornings bring coffee and croissants, served at the table or to go.

Boulud leans on his childhood near Lyon for the rest of the list: pâtés come from the acclaimed Paris charcuterie house Maison Vérot, and the wine list draws heavily on Burgundy and the Rhône. Pre- and post-theatre menus, a brasserie staple for the Lincoln Center crowd, are back too.

Rockwell Group designed the two-story space with a large central bar, private dining rooms and a tucked-away speakeasy pouring cocktails late into the night. It is the latest French import to land in New York this season.

Boulud's broader Upper West Side comeback

Brasserie Boulud is the latest move in a wider remodel of the chef's New York footprint, which began with the French steakhouse La Tête d'Or in 2024 and continued with a relocated Cafe Boulud. Each swaps a single-concept restaurant for a tighter, higher-volume format.

Whether a 10,000-square-foot brasserie can sustain that volume once the film festival crowd and opening-week curiosity fade is the test still to come.
