Lekker500 2027: De Librije retakes first place from Brut172

The 49th edition of the Dutch restaurant ranking swaps its top two, sends Rotterdam's Fred from eighth to fourth and hands a Tilburg star restaurant the biggest climb of the year.

De Librije in Zwolle is number one in the Lekker500 2027, the 49th edition of the Dutch restaurant ranking, taking first place from Brut172 in Reijmerstok. The list was presented on Monday evening at Parc Broekhuizen in Leersum, and the guide went on sale on Tuesday 3 November.

The change at the top is a straight swap: Brut172, Hans van Wolde's restaurant in South Limburg, led the previous edition with De Librije in second place. De Leuf in Ubachsberg holds third. The biggest move inside the top five belongs to Fred in Rotterdam, which climbs from eighth to fourth, ahead of De Nieuwe Winkel in Nijmegen.

The rest of the top 10 reads Azurite in Delft, Flore in Amsterdam, GEM. in Gemert, Create in Eijsden and Zarzo in Eindhoven. Limburg places three restaurants in the ten, more than any other province.

The country's only three-star kitchen is, once again, also the country's number one.

For De Librije the result closes a difficult stretch. Jonnie Boer, who built the restaurant with Thérèse Boer, died on 23 April 2025; Thérèse Boer, their children Jimmie and Isabelle and chef Nelson Tanate now carry it forward, and in early October the Michelin guide confirmed its three stars. Thérèse Boer had called 2026 "the year of truth", according to RTV Focus Zwolle.

Tilburg's Monarh is the biggest climber

The largest jump in the top 100 belongs to Monarh, the Michelin-starred restaurant on the Bredaseweg in Tilburg, which rises 18 places, from 90th to 72nd. Chef Paul Kappé told AD that the recognition was "really great". Lekker also singles out the leaps made by Château Neercanne in Maastricht and Rijnzicht in Doornenburg, without publishing a margin to match Monarh's.

The newcomers in the Lekker500 2027

The highest new entry is Le Epifaan in Veeningen, in Drenthe, at 15th. Jarno Eggen's restaurant opened on 1 August with seven tables and received a Michelin star on 5 October. Suis in Schin op Geul also goes straight into the top 20, one of seven restaurants in Lekker's newcomers overview.

The ranking is compiled from visits and assessments by the Lekker500 inspection team and covers a top 100 plus 400 further selected restaurants. A star does not guarantee a place: Kaatje bij de Sluis in Blokzijl, 89th last year, drops out of the top 100 while keeping its Michelin star.

Set against the Michelin Guide Netherlands 2026, the two systems now meet at the same address, and our list of the best restaurants in Rotterdam covers the city where Fred made its move. The country's only three-star kitchen is, once again, also its number one.
