Michelin Guide Netherlands 2026: every new star, full list
Two restaurants enter straight at two stars, seven take a first star and De Librije stays alone at three. The Dutch total holds at 119, exactly where it stood a year ago.

The Michelin Guide Netherlands 2026 adds nine starred restaurants: Azurite in Delft and SUIS in Schin op Geul enter directly with two stars, and seven kitchens receive a first star. The country now counts 119 starred restaurants, one with three stars, 20 with two and 98 with one.
Michelin presented the selection on Monday 5 October 2026 at the MECC congress centre in Maastricht. The guide lists 499 restaurants in all. The star totals are identical to those of the 2025 edition, which also closed on one, 20 and 98: nine names came in and nine dropped out through closures and withdrawn stars.
No restaurant joined De Librije at three stars, and neither Amsterdam nor Rotterdam gained a star this year. Limburg, the host province, took two of the nine. The ten new Bib Gourmands were published a week earlier and are covered in our report on the Bib Gourmand Netherlands list.
Nine names came in, nine went out, and the Dutch total stayed at 119.
Azurite, Delft
Two stars at the first attempt. Mario Ridder, whom Michelin calls a veteran of Dutch gastronomy and who previously cooked at Joelia in Rotterdam, opened Azurite in September 2025 in the Huis van Delft building on Houttuinen, too late for last year's selection, trade site ChefsFriends notes.
The kitchen is French in method and runs three menus: vegetarian, signature and caviar. The inspectors single out an artichoke cream with bluefin tuna, aged Rubia Gallega beef and a kale vinaigrette, and a cellar of about twelve thousand bottles.
SUIS, Schin op Geul
The second new two-star also skipped the one-star step. Ralf Berendsen left La Butte aux Bois, across the Belgian border, and opened SUIS in May 2026 at Strucht 77 in the South Limburg hills.
Michelin files the cooking under creative and praises the sauces above all: its example is seared red mullet on a bisque with coconut and red curry, topped with caviar and served with raw gambero rosso. The guide's summary is that complexity does not have to be complicated.
Ambrozijn, Valkenburg
One star for Sven Nijenhuis, who cooks in a chapel from 1891 on Plenkertstraat, rebuilt with black walls, a bar shaped like an organ and a chef's table facing the open kitchen. Michelin describes French methods combined with modern techniques and names pork cheeks with glazed aubergine and Thai basil mayonnaise. According to ChefsFriends, Nijenhuis follows his father in holding a star.
Bij Sidney, Loenen aan de Vecht
One star for chef Sidney Heinze and maître Dennis Bitter, who run a small living-room restaurant at Kerkstraat 5 that Michelin only added to its selection in July. The menu is Franco-Belgian and classical: frog legs meunière, tournedos Rossini, turbot with lobster béarnaise. Loenen aan de Vecht now has three one-star addresses, with Tante Koosje and 't Amsterdammertje.
De Cuijt, Mierlo
One star for Yukyung Lee and Koen van Weert, who met while working in Denmark and took over a restaurant site that has been in use since 1914. Michelin describes French-based cooking with Korean accents and close attention to sauces, citing braised pork cheeks and leek hearts with a pepper sauce finished with Armagnac.
Le Epifaan, Veeningen
One star for Jarno Eggen, who closed the two-star De Groene Lantaarn in Staphorst and rebuilt a former restaurant at Bloemberg 5 in Drenthe with Amanda Rixtum, who runs the dining room and the wine list. His whole kitchen team moved with him. Michelin added Le Epifaan to the guide in September and awarded the star a month later.
Nassau, Groningen
One star for Christian de Vries at Martinikerkhof 23, in the Prinsenhof hotel, where Nassau opened in 2020. Broadcaster RTV Noord calls it the first star in Groningen's city centre since 2012. Michelin notes few elements on the plate, strong sauces and a list with many German wines; its example is hamachi with a sauce of miso, coconut and lemongrass.
Rozewied, Kortgene
One star and the MICHELIN Young Chef Award for Noëmie Haentjens and Ferdy van Rijswijk, who met at Meliefste in Wolphaartsdijk and share both the kitchen and the dining room. Rozewied is Zeeland dialect for poppy. The cooking leans on fish, shellfish and vegetables from their own garden. In spring 2027 the restaurant moves to the polder at Geersdijk.
Wild Atelier, Hoog Soeren
One star for Jonathan Zandbergen at the restaurant of hotel De Echoput on the Veluwe. He reads the word wild broadly: game from the surrounding forest, but also fish from sustainable catch. Michelin cites red mullet grilled over fire with squid and Wadden shrimp, and a hare à la royale. Zandbergen was named the Dutch Bocuse d'Or candidate two weeks ago.
De Librije, Zwolle
Not new, but the only confirmation at the top: De Librije keeps three stars for a second year under chef Nelson Tanate and Thérèse Boer, after the death of Jonnie Boer in 2025. It remains the only three-star restaurant in the country. "Next year someone will be standing beside us," Boer said on stage, according to De RestaurantKrant.

Four of the twenty are in Amsterdam and three in Rotterdam; for everyday eating in both cities, see what to eat in Amsterdam and what to eat in Rotterdam. Spectrum in Amsterdam and De Groene Lantaarn in Staphorst, both two-star restaurants a year ago, have closed, which is why the two newcomers leave the count at 20.
Special awards and the end of the green star
The Michelin Guide Netherlands 2026 handed out four awards. The Young Chef Award, presented with trade body KHN, went to Noëmie Haentjens and Ferdy van Rijswijk of Rozewied. The Service Award went to the team of Château Neercanne in Maastricht. Matthijs Vranken and Nouri Haj Romdhane of Brut172 in Reijmerstok took the Sommelier Award. A new prize, Opening of the Year, went to Restaurant Luwte in Groningen, opened in July by Falk van Essen and Caroline de Vries.
There were no green stars. Michelin stopped awarding them on 1 June 2026, trade magazine Entree reports; 23 Dutch restaurants held one. In its place the guide presented Mindful Voices, an editorial platform, with Jef Schuur of Bij Jef on Texel and Kees Meinderts of Mearkas in Eastermar on stage.
Stars lost and restaurants that closed
Michelin's announcement does not list deletions. Two were known before the ceremony: Da Vinci in Maasbracht, where Margo Reuten lost the star she had held since 1999, and Sense in Vught, which had changed course and no longer appears in the online selection at all. De Juwelier in Amsterdam is now listed on Michelin's site without a star.
The arithmetic says more went. The one-star total is 98, as in 2025, with seven newcomers, so seven names have left that list in twelve months. With the two closed two-star restaurants, that makes nine departures against nine arrivals.
