Kevin Fehling joins seven MS Europa cruises in 2027

The chef of Hamburg's three-star The Table will sail on seven Hapag-Lloyd Cruises itineraries next year, one fewer than in 2026. The company has not said on which days he will be in the dining room.

Kevin Fehling, the chef of the three-Michelin-star restaurant The Table in Hamburg, will be on board Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' MS Europa for seven cruises in 2027, the company said on 16 September. That is one fewer than the eight it announced for 2026.

The seven itineraries run from February to December and add up to 113 days at sea. The release says the chef will be present "on selected dates" of each cruise and does not name them. When the partnership was announced in February 2019, the German trade outlet Tageskarte reported that he planned to spend 20 days a year on the ship, with a chef from The Table running the kitchen the rest of the time.

His restaurant on board is The Globe. It opened in October 2019 after a refit, in the space that had carried the name of Dieter Müller, according to CruiseMapper. Hapag-Lloyd describes lamps hung from the ceiling like planets and photographs of the chef's travels on the walls, and each guest receives a letter from him. He first boarded the Europa about 25 years ago as a ship's cook, the company says.

Seven cruises and 113 days at sea, and the days with the chef on board remain unpublished.

Where Kevin Fehling sails in 2027

The year starts with the longest leg: Valparaíso to San Francisco, 16 February to 19 March, 31 days, from €15,230 per person in a double cabin. Then come Funchal to Palma de Mallorca (7 to 17 May, from €7,000), Nice to Hamburg (31 May to 16 June, from €9,650), two Baltic sailings from Hamburg to Kiel (18 to 30 July, from €6,620, and 30 August to 10 September, from €5,820), Hamburg to Mallorca (9 to 25 October, from €8,590) and a Cape Town round trip (17 November to 4 December, from €9,860).

Four of the seven start or end in Hamburg. The fares quoted for the sailings from May to October include an early-booking discount that expires on 31 October 2026; for the Cape Town cruise the deadline is 31 January 2027. The release does not say whether dinner at The Globe carries a supplement.

Three stars on land, selected days at sea

On land, The Table in Hamburg's HafenCity kept its three Michelin stars in June for the eleventh time, Hapag-Lloyd notes. The rest of the city's starred list is shrinking: Haebel is closing its one-star restaurant in Hamburg at the end of the year.

Lisa Wilken, head of luxury cruises at Hapag-Lloyd, calls a three-star chef with his own restaurant on board "unique in the cruise industry". That is the company's claim. What a passenger buys is narrower: a cabin on a ship where the menu at The Globe is his all year, and where the chef himself is in the room on days that are not yet public.

Anyone booking for Kevin Fehling rather than for the route should ask for those dates before the discount deadline.
