Best restaurants in Chengdu 2026: 13 tables worth booking

From the city's first three-star dining room to a 1985 canteen where dinner costs under ¥100: the Michelin Guide Chengdu 2027 picks, with districts, price bands and how to book.

The best restaurants in Chengdu in 2026 come down to these 13 tables, all taken from the Michelin Guide Chengdu 2027, unveiled on 3 September 2026, and running from the city's first three-star dining room to a home-style canteen where dinner costs less than ¥100. If you can book only one, make it Xin Rong Ji; if you want Sichuan cooking at its most personal, make it Yu Zhi Lan.

The sixth Chengdu edition lists 84 restaurants: one with three stars, one with two, 13 with one, 32 Bib Gourmand addresses and 37 more in the selection. Most of the best restaurants in Chengdu cook Sichuan, and most of the new money sits in the towers along Jiaozi Avenue in Wuhou district, south of the old centre. For the dishes themselves, from mapo tofu to bobo chicken, start with our guide to what to eat in Chengdu.

Where a recent menu gives a price, we quote it in yuan. Elsewhere we use Michelin's price bands for mainland China, which measure an average meal: ¥ is under ¥100, ¥¥ is ¥100-400, ¥¥¥ is ¥400-1,000 and ¥¥¥¥ is above ¥1,000.

Chengdu's best tables still cook Sichuan; the change is how far the prices now stretch.

Xin Rong Ji, Wuhou

Xin Rong Ji moved up from two stars to three in the 2027 selection, the first restaurant in Chengdu to reach that level. It cooks Taizhou food from China's east coast rather than Sichuan, on the fifth floor of the Chinese Financial Center at 33 Jiaozi Avenue, with some ingredients flown in from Taizhou and a view of the city's Twin Towers.

Tasting menus cost ¥698, ¥998 or ¥1,980 a head, according to a review of a dinner on 27 September 2026; Michelin puts it in its ¥¥¥ band. The inspectors point to raw crab marinated in yellow wine, when it is available.

Yu Zhi Lan, Qingyang

Lan Guijun opened Yu Zhi Lan in 2011, in a private dining room on Changfa Street with no sign on the door and ceramics he made himself. It holds two stars, and at the September ceremony Lan received Chengdu's first Mentor Chef Award.

There is no à la carte: the multi-course set menus follow the market, in the ¥¥¥¥ band, above ¥1,000. The restaurant takes its own bookings, so contact it directly.

Chaimen Hui, Wuhou

Chaimen Hui, one star, cooks creative Sichuan food with seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world, on the second floor of a building at 289 Jiaozi Avenue. The dish to order is ji dou hua, minced chicken set into a silken "tofu" in a clear amber broth.

Many dishes come in individual portions, which helps a small table. Price band ¥¥¥¥; private rooms carry a fee.

Co-, Wuhou

Co- earned its first star in the 2026 edition and kept it this year. It has five tables, in the same Chinese Financial Center as Xin Rong Ji, and a single multi-course tasting menu built on produce from across China.

The detail the inspectors remember is the house sourdough, made with a 20-year-old starter. Price band ¥¥¥¥, and with five tables, booking ahead is not optional.

Focus by Bill Yue, Wuhou

One of the two new one-star restaurants in the 2027 selection, Focus is chef Bill Yue's Japanese-French tasting menu at the M·Cube mall, 500 Jiaozi Avenue. The signature is dry-aged squab with toasted cumin in a sauce of coffee, pilsner and pinot noir.

Its sommelier, Sam Liu, took Michelin's Sommelier Award this year, so the wine list is worth the attention. Price band ¥¥¥.

Zinan, Wuhou

Zinan is the other new star: a three-storey dining room on Tongzilin South Road where a local chef cooks home-style Sichuan dishes and long-standing classics, using Berkshire pork from the restaurant's own farm. Try the braised sea cucumber with aged salted kohlrabi.

At ¥¥, ¥100-400 a head, it is one of the most affordable starred tables among the best restaurants in Chengdu. Bookings by phone only.

Fang Xiang Jing, Jinniu

Fang Xiang Jing, one star, has only private rooms, set around a stone garden in the Ludao Art City complex on Majia Garden Road. The kitchen revives old Sichuan recipes: cabbage in chicken consommé, which takes hours to clarify, and a mapo tofu with diced beef and fish snout. Price band ¥¥¥.

Xu's Cuisine, Wuhou

The first branch of the Xu's group, on Wangjiang Road, has been open for more than a decade and holds one star. Fish is the centre of the menu, with live river and sea fish in a tank by the door.

A set menu walks through 24 Sichuan flavour profiles, which is the quickest education in the cuisine on this list. Order the house-cured meat and the pond loach seared with green Sichuan pepper. Price band ¥¥¥.

Silver Pot, Wuhou

Silver Pot, one star, fills a large room in an office tower at 300 Jiaozi Avenue with its owner's travel souvenirs and sources ingredients internationally for classic Sichuan cooking. The smoked roast pigeon, perfumed with Sichuan pepper leaves, is the dish; some plates come in half portions. Price band ¥¥¥.

Ma's Kitchen (Jinjiang), Taikoo Li

Ma's Kitchen started as a street stall in Weishan in 1923 and now holds one star at its Jinjiang branch on East Kangshi Street, in the Taikoo Li shopping district. The inspectors single out duck blood curd with pork offal and sliced eel, and fen zheng rou, pork coated in seasoned rice flour, steamed, then fried. Price band ¥¥, ¥100-400.

Fu Rong Huang, Qingyang

A veteran kitchen team cooks traditional Sichuan dishes at Fu Rong Huang, one star, on the third floor of a building on Guanghuacun Street. Start with fu qi fei pian, sliced beef and offal in chilli oil, then the sautéed pork liver with chilli. Price band ¥¥.

Mi Xun Teahouse, Jinjiang

Mi Xun holds one star and Chengdu's only Michelin Green Star, inside the Upper House hotel next to Daci Temple at 81 Bitieshi Street. The cooking is vegetarian and local: a vegan mapo tofu with termite mushroom, dan dan noodles made with spinach, local teas and wines.

Karen Li of Mi Xun took this year's Service Award. Price band ¥¥, which makes it one of the easiest starred lunches in the city.

Yongle Restaurant, Wuhou

Yongle has cooked home-style Sichuan food on Xiaojiahe Middle Street since 1985, stir-fried, steamed or poached in chilli broth. At the September ceremony its chef, Sicong Yin, the third generation in the kitchen, received Michelin's Young Chef Award.

It sits in the ¥ band, under ¥100 a head, takes no credit cards and draws a queue, so arrive early. Order the braised eel with aubergine; the sticky rice pork ribs suit anyone avoiding chilli.

How we chose

We started from the Michelin Guide Chengdu 2027, published on 3 September 2026, and picked 13 of its 84 restaurants for this list of the best restaurants in Chengdu, balancing the top of the guide against everyday Sichuan cooking. Michelin keeps widening its map of China: a first Michelin selection for Tianjin was announced for the end of October.

Every restaurant was checked against its current Michelin page on 20 October 2026. Prices in yuan come from a dated published menu; the rest are Michelin's bands. We update this list when a restaurant opens, closes or changes its stars.
