Michelin Guide Southwest debuts with four Las Vegas stars
The inaugural Southwest selection ends a 17-year Michelin gap in Las Vegas, crowning Joël Robuchon with two stars and three more Strip kitchens with one each.

The Michelin Guide Southwest's inaugural selection puts four Las Vegas restaurants on the map, with Joël Robuchon at the MGM Grand awarded two stars in a region Michelin had not rated since 2009.
Inspectors revealed the results on 26 August at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the first Southwest ceremony since Michelin announced it would review Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah back in December 2025. It is Michelin's second standalone regional guide in North America, rating four states rather than a single city.
The selection lists 64 restaurants across 24 cuisines: five carry stars, 18 hold Bib Gourmand status for good food at moderate prices, and 41 are Recommended. Nevada took every star but one, and every Nevada star sits on the Las Vegas Strip.
Four Strip kitchens and a Salt Lake newcomer just redrew the Southwest's dining map.
Four Las Vegas restaurants take stars
Joël Robuchon, inside the MGM Grand, earned two stars, the region's only restaurant at that level. One star each went to L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon, also at the MGM Grand; Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace; and é by José Andrés at the Cosmopolitan.
Sean Christopher, who runs the dining room at Joël Robuchon, won the 2026 Michelin Guide Southwest Service Award. In Utah, Monte in South Salt Lake took the state's first-ever Michelin star; Arizona led the region in Bib Gourmand counts without a star of its own, and New Mexico placed 12 restaurants in the debut list.
"Our anonymous Inspectors have been out in the field researching the culinary scene across the Southwest and have been eager to expand further into the region to share their discoveries with the world," said Gwendal Poullennec, Michelin's international director.
Michelin Guide Southwest ends a 17-year gap
Michelin last published a Las Vegas guide in 2009, then suspended it, citing the economic climate; this selection closes a 17-year absence from the wider region, on the same week the Toronto edition reveals its own debut stars. Inspectors judge every restaurant on five fixed criteria — product quality, technique, personality, value and consistency — a resort casino counts the same as a strip mall.
Coverage keeps widening: Michelin reveals its 2026 Colorado selection this same week, its first to run statewide rather than stop at Denver, Boulder, Aspen, Snowmass, Vail and Beaver Creek. Newer dining rooms, including the one inside the Phoenix hotel Michelin now tracks, have a year to make their own case before the next Southwest ceremony resets the board.
