Berryman's: Three Sheets duo opens a martini bar in Dalston

Max and Noel Venning go back to Kingsland Road with a 20-capacity, standing-only bar for martinis, wine and Cornish oysters, two doors from the original Three Sheets.

Berryman's, a martini, wine and oyster bar from Three Sheets founders Max and Noel Venning, opens on 13 November at 508 Kingsland Road in Dalston, east London, according to Hot Dinners. The site, formerly Dead Good Coffee, sits two doors from the original Three Sheets, and the opening coincides with that bar's tenth anniversary.

The format is deliberately small. Berryman's holds about 20 people, standing only, with walk-ins and a waiting list at the door instead of reservations, Restaurant Online reports. Everything on the menu is designed to be eaten without cutlery. The name is the brothers' mother's maiden name, a nod to her Cornish roots.

The room, by the studio Nothing & Nothing, runs across one floor: a dark oak-panelled entrance, low lighting, a curved marble counter, oak ledges for drinks around the walls and two-tier shelving with bronze supports for wine and spirits.

Twenty places, no bookings, no cutlery: Berryman's bets that the queue on Kingsland Road does the marketing.

What Berryman's pours and shucks

The drinks list is shorter and more traditional than at Three Sheets. It opens with a rotating selection of martinis plus a Vesper, a white Cosmopolitan made with gooseberry, a few seasonal cocktails and a wine list that will change regularly. The Vennings cite coastal bars in Emilia-Romagna, Barcelona and along the English Channel as the model.

Head chef Ethan Pack leads with Cornish oysters and four garnishes: strawberry mignonette, gherkin granita, Kashmiri and clementine ponzu, and a house hot sauce of El Yucateco green habanero, moscatel vinegar and lime. Dirty martini crisps are Sarriegui olive oil crisps dusted with juniper, kosseret tea, coriander seed and olive powder. Around them sit Jumi baguette with salted butter, 18-month Comté with quince, coppa di Parma, giardiniera pickles and a pressed, thin bikini sandwich of jamón, 'nduja, Manchego and Gouda. Dessert is fior di latte ice cream with olive oil and balsamic, or Spanish biscuits. Prices have not been published.

From one Dalston bar to four sites

The brothers opened Three Sheets in Dalston in 2016, added the Crouch End cocktail bar and restaurant Little Mercies in 2018 and a second Three Sheets in Soho in 2024. The Soho bar is No. 41 on Europe's 50 Best Bars 2026 and placed 73rd in the 51-100 extended ranking that preceded the full World's 50 Best Bars 2026 list. Berryman's becomes the group's fourth site.

Going back to a first address is something of a London theme this autumn: chef Lee Tiernan is also returning to his old Black Axe Mangal site. Berryman's will keep a limited online presence and rely on word of mouth and passing trade. Twenty places, no bookings and no cutlery: on Kingsland Road, the queue is the marketing plan.
