Felix Adebahr opens Goethe & Gabel at Munich's Goetheplatz
The Munich chef leaves Mural and the Michelin Green Star kitchen Green Beetle behind for an all-day Mediterranean room on Goetheplatz, open since 17 October 2026.

Felix Adebahr opens Goethe & Gabel at Munich's Goetheplatz on 17 October 2026, moving from two starred kitchens into an all-day neighbourhood restaurant of his own.
The address is Häberlstraße 15, in Ludwigsvorstadt, a short walk from Sendlinger Tor. The kitchen runs two shifts: lunch dishes that change by the day, then a shorter evening menu built around drinks and small plates.
Two Michelin kitchens behind him
Great cooking that stays down to earth and open to everyone, is how Adebahr describes the new menu.
Adebahr trained at Tantris and Restaurant Esszimmer, two of Munich's starred kitchens, before taking over Green Beetle in 2021. The vegetarian restaurant, owned by Michael Käfer's Feinkost Käfer group, earned a Michelin Green Star under his lead; the guide's own listing credits him with its sustainability approach, one of the recognitions chefs keep chasing well beyond the main stars.
He later moved to Mural, the restaurant inside the MUCA street-art museum, where he ran the kitchen from winter 2024. He left at the end of July 2025; trade title Tageskarte reported that Bastian Falkenroth took over culinary direction of Mural and its Bar Mural from 1 August.
Goethe & Gabel's lunch-to-dinner menu
The opening menu leans Mediterranean and regional: focaccia with olive oil and sea salt at 5.50 euros, beetroot with ginger and spelt, and Poltinger duck with red onions and organic egg. The card runs from a starters section through mains to dessert, with vegetarian dishes throughout.
Adebahr describes the idea on the restaurant's own site as cooking that is ambitious but "bodenständig und für alle zugänglich" — down to earth and open to everyone, a shift in register from the tasting menus at Mural and Esszimmer.
Doors run daily from 10:30 to 20:00. The kitchen serves 11:30 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 19:30, with a smaller menu filling the gap between 15:00 and 17:00.
Adebahr also holds a separate role as global brand ambassador for kitchenware maker WMF, a link the restaurant does not hide: its site lists catering for private dinners and corporate events alongside the daily menu.
Munich's restaurant scene has pulled in outside names this year too, among them Pizza Pilgrims' push into the city. Whether Goethe & Gabel's looser, two-shift format holds through a first winter, after two chefs' tables that moved him on, is the next thing to watch.
